I’m a mom of 4 girls and a former professional race car driver.
In 2004 I was photographed for the cover of LA Weekly by one of the best AND worst photographers I’ve ever met. How could a photographer with so much technical skill (commissioned by THE largest distributed mag in SoCal) be SO bad with people? “Show me sexy” is the only direction he gave…
My frustration with the rude LA Weekly photog (and many others after him) fueled a new passion in photography for me. I wanted to photograph people and make them feel comfortable in front of the camera. Why was it such a hard concept for most photographers to master?!
I launched Sachiko Studio in 2011 with the philosophy of “organic, fun photo sessions.” I quickly found success and my bookings more than doubled every year. I gave up my fancy career in accounting and became the top family & newborn portrait photographer in my area.
In 2012, I started leading photography 101 workshops for photographers and clubs at Honda & USC.
In 2015, I left the confines of my home office/bedroom/Starbucks and got an office in Arcadia.
In early 2016, I gave birth to my 4th daughter and doubled the size of my Arcadia location to accommodate a photo studio.
Today, my daughters are 20, 9, 3 and 1. In my household, you will hear all about ‘breastfeeding,’ ‘college,’ and ‘preschool’ on any given day. I’m run all over town chasing my 4 daughters and trying new restaurants with my beloved husband/second shooter. I’m still teaching women how to be bad-asses and race cars.
Photo sessions should be fun and painless. Sure you or your loved ones may hate the camera, but give me one chance to prove you wrong doll!
Do you worry your wild kids won’t hold still for a photo? I have a bag of free swag for kids and 20 years of parenting experience to help combat these worries!
|I’ve been hired to photograph over 500 portrait sessions, weddings & events.
I’ve studied under some of the most bad-ass women photographers in the industry including:

The Origin of “Sachiko Studio”
My middle name (and my grandma’s name) is “Sachiko.” In Japanese, it means happiness. I’m all about the glass being half FULL!
In the spring of 2016 I expanded my downtown Arcadia space and built a studio inside a historic 1920’s building that used to be the Arcadia Tribune Newspaper headquarters in the 20’s-30’s. In the studio space, I do specialty photo sessions like children’s birthday cake smashes, milestone portraits, head shots and ladies’ makeover glam sessions. I was first a natural light photographer and still love to photograph in the beautiful outdoors. I have the best of both worlds…a beautiful studio and a long list of beautiful outdoor locations to photograph my clients in.
I’m the only newborn photographer in the area offering clients a choice of in-home OR in-studio newborn photography sessions.
I love optimism, great customer service, anything that will make my race car look girly and go fast, meeting new people, cherry blossoms, PIZZA, having an arsenal of MAC eyeshadow, haribo gummy bears, anything canon, target, an extra hot double tall zebra soy mocha with no whip, vintage purses, sex & the city, japanese washi paper, rose gold, kettle corn, running, typefaces, the color magenta and italian leather.
When I am not behind the camera, you can find me editing photos in my office with a baby on my lap, holding instructional workshops for aspiring photographers, or in the classroom, garage and track teaching aspiring woman race car drivers. In my free time, you’ll find me at the spa, at home goods buying endless amounts of props, shopping on Amazon, watching reality shows, and spending time with my four beautiful daughters, Callista, Sabine, Elise & Kristy, and extremely supportive husband, Benson. You can do anything you put your mind to, after all, you only get one take in life, make it count!
